1990 190E 2.6 Hot ignition key/switch

I just noticed that the ignition key and switch face plate get very hot, almost too hot to touch on my 1990 190E 2.6, after a short drive. Anyone else run into this problem?

Either someone has added an aftermarket stereo etc. that is running directly from an ignition-switched circuit, or your ignition switch is wearing out (high contact resistance).

Not very common.
