Water in Footwell S320 CDi 2004

Hi
My dad has found a puddle of water in the rear passenger side (left hand side) footwell of his 2004 S320 CDi. We've checked the basic stuff (windows were closed hehehe). It seems to be water - it's clear with no odour. By the sounds of it there is quite a lot of water.
Does anybody have any ideas?
Thanks in advance

Oliver

Has he been using the Air Conditioning recently? If the evaporator drain/hose is plugged or something in the dash it can cause the condensation water to pour down onto the floor. Happens in the W126 S-class fairly commonly.....just an idea....or maybe a windshield leak? Has it rained a lot recently?

Remove the rear seat and see if any of the rubber grommets in the floor pan are missing.

The reed valve is clogged- its located under the hood at the back right side, look down though the vent and you should see a drain there with debris or whatever clogging it. water fills that area up and then flows into the car flooding the passenger side and sometimes taking out your rear SAM so make sure you dry everything out under the backseat!

Thanks for all the replies. I'll give my Dad a call and tell him to check the drainage areas.

All the best
Oliver

Oliver,

Does the car have a sunroof ? It happened to me once that the tubes were clodded with debries.

Cheers,
Ingmar
