W126 front suspension noise
I have this unusual noise that my dealer hasn't been able to find the cause of. The noise is a creaking under braking but the unusual part is that I can only get it to make this noise after I have been driving up hill for a few minutes and then come back down. On the down section and for a little while on the flat when I brake I get a creaking sound from the front left. After a while though it goes away and won't reoccur until I go uphill again. Luckily I do mostly flat driving and this doesn't occur to often but it is very annoying. Anyone have any thoughts?

IMO, it could be the case of a worn out bushing at your front end.
I had creaks and croaks like you described - more when going up and down humps. Replaced ALL the bushings (2 days of sitting pretty in the workshop), and the noise has disappeared. Handles like new.

Hi...I may have had a similar ('87 420SEL)...diagnosis: caster bearings (bushings?)...
