1987 300e

I have recently purchased a 300e and have a cruise control issue. I have only got it to engage a few times and when it does it keeps accelerating. I let it go once to see what would happen and it went to 130mph before i hit the brakes. Where is the cruise unit located?

where could you go to 130mph in the states? or was it on a speedway?

do a search on the cruise amp. sometimes you can reheat all the joints with a soldering iron and your issues may be fixed.

Try resoldering the connections. If there is nothing "obvious" then...

You can also do the "oven trick". It is used by many people to fixing XBox360's. set the oven to 390F (just above temperature that solder melts at). Throw it in for EXACTLY 8 minutes. Make sure to remove completely from the plastic box surrounding it or it will melt. Do not touch it after the 8 minutes, just turn off oven and open door wide because you may disturb the solder and create more microfractures.

I put mine on a pan and roll up tinfoil into little balls to support it off the pan.
