Typically it is located behind the battery, and has a clear top over a 10 amp
blade-type fuse

I wonder if '97s still used OVPs. In most chassis, they went away by about '95, I believe.

I have a 96 W210

My car has a K40 relay i beleive in place of the OVP that was in my 1991 W201.
The K40 is located (in my engine) infront of the passenger side-engine bay, A black box with 4 screws -open it up and the K40 has a bunch of fuses in it.
I just replaced mine ~$125 from our sponsors.

-good luck

Want to put a tank in the trunk for WVO/SVO in the E300 Need to find a place to store my OIL!
Still procrastinating about the biodiesel/WVO
Made some biodiesel but so afraid to pour it all in - I've added some and think I'll supplement my fuel to see how I make out

Made some biodiesel but the process scares me - methanol fumes are not your friend! Need to do this outside.

The K40 is a functional load center, an OVP relay has only one function and thats protecting the electronics from voltage spikes.

OK, lets do this a bit slower for the old guy, which lights flicker. What goes on and off and do they do it at the same time over bumps or what have you. In a case with multiple electrical faults there is usually a common denominator. Not always but most of the time and has anyone been working on the car doing anything mechanical/ electrical?

You havn't bothered me at all, I actually enjoy trying to figure things out here as well as at other boards. What else does a retired mechanic that spent 40 yrs doing this every day do? I was trying to get a clearer picture of all the problems your car seem to exibit. I do admit my typing really sucks, other than it's all fun for me.
