Unhappy locked keys in car

The key to my 420SEL is locked in the car. The hood is open. Is there any way to get it open besides breaking a window?

Call a tow company or a locksmith.. I wonder if the 1800 mb number would work?

Perhaps you can take the VIN and proof of ownership to your closest MB dealer and have one made... it may take a few days though.

How quickly do you need the car unfastened?

Yep, you could buy a new key for about $25 from the dealer.

You only have one key to the car?

If the trunk is unlocked then you'd be able to get in by jumping the lock pump back there, or by pressurizing the line to the locks.

Sometimes the trunk doesn't lock (vacuum leak), but of course, this is one of the few times it does lock.

I've thought about buying a key from the dealer, and it would only take one day, but I'll have to ask the parents about getting a ride from them so I can get to college...

I'm working on a wire hanger right now, not sure how it'll work on these Mercedes though.

if you have the lock pulls from that era....you should be able to grab on to it and pull it up..

i know we replaced some of ours with cylinder type pulls....so know one could do the hangar trick....

i have done it before though... just be patient.... and watch the paint....

the hangar should slip through...you just might have to figure out what angle to bend the hangar..

Slide the wire through a piece of plastic tubing to protect the paint.
