How to determine engine range when ordering parts?
OK - I get my parts from Fastlane, and notice that often there are engine ranges to consider. Is there a number somewhere on the car that I can use to order the correct parts? thanks

Engine serial number and chassis serial number.
The engine number is on the block. It will start with the engine model # (110, 117, 115, 130, etc.,) followed a subtype (920, 320, etc. not real numbers, just made up) and THEN the serial number. Example (not real, just for explanation) 110-920-0123456 This is the M110 engine,(110) low compression US version with secondary external mounts for the "S" chassis, (920) and then the engine serial number (0123456). |
The engine number will be located on a flat pad on the left rear of the engine as I remember. I hope I'm not getting the location of that one mixed up with another.

Get subscibed to EPC and when you do you can enter your VIN and get a "datacard." Datacard will show engine number.

kent - Where in EPC is the data card? I don't see it in there in any of the pull-down menus. Thanks!
