1991 Mercedes Benz 560SEL Windshield wipers only work on full speed

All, my newly acquired 1991 Mercedes Benz 560SEL windshield wipers mostly only work on full speed and they don't park. Sometimes they do work at slow speed but move very very slowly. I thought it was the replay, but I swapped it out with a new one without luck.

Has anyone experienced this before?

you need a new wiper motor but it wouldnt hurt to check the wiper circuits and the multifuntion switch either

He probably does not need a new motor. I had the same problem with the SL and it turned out to be the multi-function switch. It was a very easy replacement.

Tyler could also be correct. I had the same issue like you but It turned out to be a wiper motor instead of the Multifunction switch, Just make sure you check all circuits and diagnose the problem accurately.

Thanks, I also suspect the combo switch, I bought a new one some weeks ago but have not bothered installing it as i very quickly bought a 560sec right after this car which i have been driving on a regular bases. I have some time off coming up and will replace the switch. The odd thing is that I switched relays and it fixed the problem for a very short while, then it came back again.
