w140 instrumentation questions...
 

how does the w140 instrumentation work? what sensors control what? RPMs still dependent on the flywheel sensor? what about the speedo? i'm planning a frankenstein conversion... fitting a simple 602 in place of the 2.8L m104... long story...

can i just hook everything up from the sensors to the cluster? or does it need to pass thru a computer or something?... i'm guessing it will have to pass through a computer... can the computer still function with a completely different engine? i don't mind the usual check engine warnings and whatnot... i just need the basics to function... like the fuel, RPM, speedo, and temp.
