M103 Belt Squeak
I just got finished replacing the tensioner, fan bearing bracket, tensioner dampener, and belts....
Went for a 30 min drive, and am now getting a very mild squeak from the belt.... I have it tensioned according to spec, so I dont know whats going on.... The new belt is a Continental.... |
There are other sources for a squeak/squeal. Check the idler pulley, power steering pulley, A/C compressor pulley and air pump pulley.

You say "Belts"?
I thought the M103 had only one belt. Maybe mine is missing one?
|
They do only have 1 belt.

greasy fingers
Unless you installed it with white gloves, you got oil/grease on it.. it will go away in a day, or a week, depending on how greasy it is..
|
Mine has never squeaked, even when I replaced it with a brand new one.....I used a Conti Germany belt.
|
The new belt squeak will probably go away but in the meantime you can silence it by (with the engine running) touching the drive side belt a few times with a candle. Its an old trick that garages usually charge $20 for.........

Yeah, the squeak went away, now I am having a different problem with the car...
Sounds like there is no oil getting to valve train for the front 2 cylinders... But thats another thread. |
