Driveshaft nut help
Hi
I need to tighten my driveshaft nut and am finding it difficult to prevent the wheels from turning as I try to do this. I have the car up on jack stands and do not have a helper... any ideas? Thanks, Jamie Edit Report |
Put it in park. ;)

Setting the parking brake should also work.

Another option is to put a socket/breaker bar or a wrench on one of the bolts on the flex disc and let it jam against something (or the ground) to keep it from moving. |
I may have to jam it because of the 4matic I do not think that the parking brake or park will sort out the turning front wheels. Thanks for the ideas.

Jamie, use an open-end wrench on the driveshaft to keep it from turning. I bought 41mm and 46mm open-end wrenches for loosening the driveshaft nut when replacing flex discs.
