At least in was made in Germany
My Grandson bought an old Porsche 944 with 2.5 non turbo. It needs a waterpump. To do the job properly one needs Porsche tool #P9201 Porsche Belt Tension Tool to adjust the tension on the timing belt properly. Anyone here have one we could rent. PM me if you do and we could use it.

Have you tried the local Porsche Club of America chapter? Usually you will find someone in the PCA that has the tool and will lend it out to you or assist in finding one. I'm planning on doing this when my 944 Turbo gets it's next timing belt done rather than shelling out hundreds more for someone else to do it.

The water pump tensions the timing belt? Do you have an official repair manual? On VWs with that tensioner setup, and other similar tensioners, you tighten the belt till you can only twist it some ammount, usually 90* for 8 valve engines and 45* for 16 valves and diesels.

You don't need the Porsche tool, there are aftermarket alternatives that you can pick up for about $50 (here for example: http://www.zdmak.com/wbstore/main.asp?action=PROD&PROD=MK-142BG) |
