Little power after cold starts: 84 190E 2.3

Somedays I wish for the old manual chokes on my Triumphs!

My 170K 190E doesnt start up without a little coaxing/pumping of the pedal on cold mornings. (you'd think it had a carb) Also, I dont get much power at all from the engine on cold mornings. I purposely avoid a large hill and take a longer way to the train station in the morning, so I dont have to creep up the slope. Once it warms up , its acceptable.

Do you think its my cold start valve? Any thoughts folks?

Pat;
The cold start valve is not the problem,It's job is done as soon as the engine is running.
If the eng. is popping through the intake on accel. then the mixture is probably lean.
On the left front of your eng. you will find a two pole temp sensor,install part#2015408034 on the green with red tracer wire, This is a 470 ohm resistor and is intended to richen the mixture during warm up.
The best thing to do would be to have the mixture checked after this repair.

Thanks Mike

I'll check it out.

It hasnt really popped, it more orr less 'protests' on accelerating when cold.

For a couple of bucks, i'll swap it out when I do my timing chain this month.
