2001 E430 srs light
I own a 2001 E430 that has been a delight to drive.
Recently the SRS light came on along with the passenger airbag light on the console. My question is, are the 2 conneted? Can the airbag be turned back on? Can the SRS light be reset? Thanks Steve Dale 1996 C280 2001 E430 |

Yes, they are connected.
Most likely cause is a faulty seat sensor. http://www.benzworld.org/forums/w210-e-class/1395613-photo-diy-srs-seat-sensor-replacement.html You need to go to dealer or someone who can reset SRS after the triggered is found and eliminated. An OBDII just won't do it.

Reading & resetting SRS system requires a scanner designed for Mercedes.

I too have the SRS light on (99 E430) and my inpsection is up in a few days, I checked with a local repair shop I've used in the past and they want $90 to read the SRS code. My questions are...
(i) Do I need the SRS resolved to pass an inspection? (ii) Will I need to pay once to get the SRS code read and then again (after I address the problem) to have it reset? Thanks, Peter |
