auto transmission overfill harmful?
I have never filled my ATF in the 1.5 years that i have owned the car, but i noticed that the transmission seems to be way over filled. It iseems like it is almost double the two little "=" markings on the dipstick. is this harming my tranny.
any input is appreciated. |
make sure your car is on a level surface when checkihng. Also should be checked when warm.
|
AND THE CAR MUST BE TURNED ON!!! Engine must be running.
Please, do a search, this topic has been covered quite a bit recently. You'll find more information that you will need. GOOD LUCK! |
It also must be at operating temperature, this means about 17 miles of driving.
And, yes, overfill can DEFINITELY cause damage to your transmission, mostly in the form of blown seals. Good luck, |
Thanks, i guess i never checked the level with the engine running. but always on level surface and warm.
i will check again later and do a search. thanks. |
