He said it was just in need of alignment. I just thought it was odd that one side was so bad and the others were wearing evenly. I already knew I'd need an alignment. I hope that's actually the issue. The hopping feeling/sound in the front went away when he replaced the steering damper that was damaged. Now there's just a little shake, but I'm sure it's just I just need to balance the tires/wheels.

As for the tranny fluid, is there a specific brand or type of Dex III that should be used on higher mileage trannys?

Hopefully whatever they hit that bent the steering damper didn't also tweak something major and that's what's causing the alignment issue and one-sided tire wear.

The 722 trannies are quite dependable and real work horses. I wouldn't worry about high milage fluid, IMO, regular Dexron III will be fine.

Tweaking something else is what I'm worried about as well. I'll find out when I get an alignment.

Mine was actually similar, but it was a steering damper that was bent and causing the noise.
