4 post lift
 

I'm considering a 4 post storage/service lift for my shop/garage. There are many different manufacturers, anybody have experience with a particular brand? Comments? Recommendations.

A friend of mine has two of these in his garage, I think it is the same brand. Regardless it looks exactly like the one I have provided. Not sure how much he paid but here ya go

Rotary Lift is a very good brand. I would stay away from the many chinese lifts available.

Oh, I don't know about that. Obama recommends we buy everything from our important partner CHINA. He has already ordered his next limo from Walmart.

This is a Direct Lift Pro-Park 7 that I've had for three years now. Very well made, absolutely no problems, 7,000 lb capacity.

I bolted an ATV 12v winch to the rear (end inside the garage) cross bar so that I can pull my non-running (the FrankenBenz) silver SEC up the driveway onto the lift. I roll the silver SEC off the lift to the end of the driveway, put the car that needs work onto the lift, then winch the SEC back onto the lift when I'm done - a neat (but lazy) improvement.

I have bendpak 12,000 pound capacity, four-post lift that has been holding up my 600 limo for several years. It's all US made for those that worry.

One of these days soon, I'll post the four page writeup I did when I self-installed it. The ramps on these things are both large and heavy. The trunk that tried to deliver it couldn't because I didn't have a fork-lift (their lift gate couldn't handle it). Make sure the seller commits to a successful delivery to your location.

A car lift is not something I would want to buy on the "cheap" I don't think! Rotary is the brand I see in many of the garages I've been in.

Those who have the space and the money for the lift are to envy :D

A friend of the family just acquired a Rotary 2 post lift from a shop in his area that closed due to economic and poor business decisions.

He ended up with the lift for $1500, plus $~400 to have the shop that originally installed it un-assemble, move it to his garage, assemble, and re-calibrate it to get the two posts in time with each other.


If anyone seriously wants a lift, keep your eyes open for auto shops that might be floundering or actively closing, you might get lucky.

Thanks for all the comments. I have seen used lifts come on the market now and then--most are 2 post from shops that are relocating or shutting down. I think the two post lifts need just a little more space on the sides--my space is limited, thats why I think I want a four post model. I'll post an update if and when I decide on something.
