need brake part name .

2000 E430 4 matic, I'm trying to find out what this part is called, it's the spring/strip on top of the caliper in the pic that is kind of holding the caliper through the two holes...

In american car speak, it would be called the the Brake Caliper Anti-Rattle Spring.

thanks ok and the purpose for this is what ? keep the caliper from rattling ?. hmmm.

It's to keep the pad from rattling, from what I understand.
The way the w126 cars have it setup, it's wedged in against the edge of the pad, and helps keep the pad forced against the caliper body. Again, if I understand it correctly, it should help keep the pad from jolting to the side when first applying the brakes, and may help to reduce brake squeal. |
