226k miles, doing the head gasket, other

I'm at 226k miles and doing the head gasket. I am looking at a sensor in the 4matic system and a tired spring on the driver front wheel. The car is not stored in a garage an is getting a few spots of rust. I am/will be fixing all that is working as my target is 320k miles/500k kilometers.

If you don't mind repairs over new car payments keep this car. I have a self-leveling suspension, electric mirrors and the best ride available. The best thing is that it doesn't take synthetic oil, require MB fluids, and an independent mechanic can work on it.

While you don't have to use MB fluids... at least for the anti-freeze, you should use either MB or Zerex G-05 (they are the same thing - yellow color, low-silicate formula). If you have the high-silicate evil green stuff in there, change it ASAP. I'll ignore the synthetic comment, if you choose not to use them, that's fine... you simply won't reap any of the benefits.

1994 E320 Wagon (104.992 motor) 234,xxx miles--fully expect to be driving it 10 years from now.......

It's our daily driver, it started life as the MB roadside service vehicle for a dealer in Kansas, my parents bought it in 1995 with 6K miles. All service done in accordance with the MB schedule--I have every receipt since brand new. My parents were going to trade it in and asked if we wanted it. I very reluctantly accepted. That was the start of my 124 addiction.

I hear you, JM. What sprayed gasoline on the fires of 124 addiction was owning several 123's. All my 123's are long gone and I hope never to own another. In the meantime, a second 124.036 followed me home last month... my M119 fleet is growing... uh-oh!

A friend of the family bought an 87 with 90k on it and drove it to 385K with no problems. Mostly highway miles as a traveling salesman.

Thumbs up

My M103 car is around 267k from what I can recall last time I drove it. Going to do the head summer '10 hopefully. I have three A/C systems to finish first.

I do have some slower starting when totally cold... i.e. excessive cranking.

And I do foul out two plugs (number three and six) every three to five months along with oil consumption and leakage of around one quart every 700-1000 miles. Of course the oil/plugs depends on how much I drive the vehicle.

When the trans dies I do believe I will be converting the car to a five speed.

194,000 miles

we have a 95 e320 wagon. Bought it with 178,000 on the clock.
Had all the service records.
We drive it daily, at least 500 miles a week.
going on a 1500 mile road trip.

we are the 3rd owners of this california car that ended up in Texas. Still had Cali Plates when we bought it.

Bought for 2750. Paid about that much in parts for all the DIY repairs I've done -still need to do control arms and front suspension - but it drives fairly well. Beats the hell out of car payments.

Hoping to making to at least 300,000. Just wish it was a w124 diesel. Oh well, we still get 24 mpg. highway if my wife drives

My 1987 300E has around 197kish on the dash. The engine is in amazing shape and we haven't replaced anything major. accelerates fast and has a smooth ride. We put synthetic oil in it, helps alot and I would recommend using it versus normal oil.

Sold my 300E at a little over 200,000 miles. Engine was completely original, no work done on the internal engine components.

The 300E was indeed an amazing car.
