190E Belt tensioner
Would someone post me a picture of the correct layout for the belt tensioner including the shock strut. I'm in the process of purchasing the W124 shop manuals form the Shop forum classified sections.

Howdy,
I don't have a picture but it is pretty simple to replace. The only requirement is that you need to remove the waterpump pulley & ps pulley, damper shock and the serpentine belt. After you remove the pulleys the assembly is visible. I recently replaced the belt tensioner, damper shock, fan clutch bearing and serpentine belt. Since it was my first time it took me about 4hrs to finish the job. If had to do it again it probably won't take more than 2 hrs. My mechanic quoted $450 just for labor. I will post a detailed set of instructions on how to replace the tensioner ASAP. Regards smk_texas 92 190e 2.6 102 K |
Thaks for the reply and I'm looking forward to your detailed post. Does the shock damper top bolt have a nut behind it or does it contain a lock washer. I have taken this apart before but I may have lost some hardware.

$450 for labor? The guy is smoking you. My tech charged me two hours of labor to replace tensioner and belt (190E 2.3).
