Plugs and Wires
A friend has a 04 500E, the stealership wants $1800 to change the plugs and wires, Fastline has the parts for less than $300, is the job really that labor intensive?????????????

I would open it up and look at it. Nothing tells me it shouldn't be pretty straightforward. The only prob I can potentially see is the back cylinders might be difficult to reach. Whenever the dealer gives me a ridiculous price I always ask why, you never know if the shop manual stipulates the engine being pulled to access the plugs. Even then 1800 is insane for a "tune-up"

"Real" sparkplugs should be about $10 each. There are 16.
Mercedes dealer price for wires is about $35 each. There are 16. Job requires kind of special tools and removal of air intake. The change interval for plugs is 100K miles. The change interval for wires is never ... unless one fails--replace that one only.
