88 300E Blower...Mind of it's own

My daughter just bought an 88 300E and the blower doesn't come on until u drive for a little while then it works fine. Any ideas as to what this might be? Regulator? Motor itself? Heat and AC work fine.

yep...here's my idea, that is the way it is supposed to work. Really, check
out the manual..that is exactly what it's designed to do.

sptt, if heat is selected the Climate Control System delays blower motor operation until the engine warms up; however, in A/C mode the blower motor should operate immediately. Remove the 30-amp strip fuse in the black plastic enclosure atop the driver's side shock tower and check for a transverse crack. If it is cracked the blower motor circuit will not be completed until the engine warms up and the fuse halves expand and make contact.

Solved My Blower Problem! Thanks!

My blower motor started working intermittently a couple of days ago. I checked the 30A strip fuse you mentioned and sure enough it had a slight crack. After replacing the fuse, my blower motor started working fine again. Thanks for your help Fred! Happy New Year! !!

Ferdman...today I started my gaughter's 88 300E and again, the blower motor did not come on when AC was turned on. I haven't checked that fuse yet but decided to try and tap on the driver's side footwell near the gas pedal and it immediately came on! Would that indicate a bad motor that needs replaced or the fuse issue? Thanks!
