'02 C240 - Front Parking Light Replacement
Hi. I've searched for forums and can't find the answer to my question:
How do I change the front parking light in a 2002 C240? I have a malfunction to replace the front parking light. I was able to access the compartment with two light bulbs. One larger one which isn't burnt out, but I think there is a smaller bulb right underneath it which I can't pull out. Is there a trick to accessing this bulb? Many thanks again to this great set of MB techs and their assistance. It makes us all better at taking care of these beutiful machines... Brad. |
Does the owners manual have anything to say about it?
|
Manual Says:
" Parking and standing lamp W 5W Open Hood. Press the clamp adn remove headlamp cover (2). Pull out bulb socket (6). Remove bulb from socket. Insert new bulb in socket and push in. Reinstall bulb socket. Align headlamp cover (2) and click into place." I followed the instructions and its pretty simple, but the difficulty I'm having is pulling out bulb socket (6). I can't seem to grip the socket. I tried to use a 90 degree needle nose plyer but it kept slipping and I didn't want to pull on the wires. Any suggestions? Thanks again... |
I don't have that car, but as a guess, maybe twist it before you pull it out?
|
Thanks for the advice, but I don't think it turns. I just have to figure out how to get a good grip on the socket and pull it out.
Does anyone have a good tip to pull out this socket from the housing? |
There aren't a lot of people here with these "new" ones... M.B. DOC will know, but where is he?...
|
Sorry, reposting to get this to the top to see if someone has a tip for me to get this thing out....:P

If the bulb socket does not turn counterclockwise to unlock, maybe it has a locking clamp? I don't have this model, but just a thought.

I suppose you could call the dealer, or call 1-800-FOR-MERC. They might even send someone out to do it for you. You never know.

I tried to twist it and it didn't move. Doesn't look like it twists anyways. Still looking for some assistance with removing this socket. Thanks...
