Question cant find this part...is there any way to make it work

the metal piece on the bottom of the front passanger side window (the one that attaches to the glass) mine is broken and the window wont go down when the door is shut.

I have checked everywhere for this part..no one has it and have been told I have to buy an new piece of glass with that part...the benz dealer is way high over $400.00...(lets just say I laughed at him)

does anyone know if I take it to a machine shop if they could fix it or should I not laugh at the Benz dealer?

Sure. An auto glass installer should be able to help, just get the channel bonded back on using 2 part window channel bonding adhesive, works great.

I don't have access to a parts microfiche here, and I don't work again until Tuesday :p
If it is unavailable new, possibly a larger European used parts specialist will have an SEC with a broken side window that he would sell the channel from.
One company that comes to mind is Potomac German Auto.

ps or maybe buying the complete glass would be more reasonable if bought used.

A whole window from a dismantler is what you'll probably need. None in Virginia?? I know a dismantler in California who has several SEC's in various states of death, some with all the glass yet. Of course you'd have to have it shipped.

Try M&M Dismantlers in Fontana, CA, 1-800-429-7278 ask for Chad (tell him I sent you). He used to have a nice SEC now has a nice 300CE and knows his MB's. Not sure if that is a California only 800# or not though. If it doesn't work let me know and I'll dig up the commercial number.

I stopped by M&M today as I was in the area. Chad told me you had called, and then informed me they don't ship glass. I'm sorry, didn't know. I guess I shoulda done my homework a little better. Still a viable source for "hard" items though.

Had the same problem with my last SEC.Drivers side broke welded it only lasted a month.I bought a new window from mercedes is the only way to fix it.The channel is no longer avail without glass. Was not $400,i paid $200 installed.Shop around,a glass shop can buy the window from dealer much cheaper than you can

I will give them a call today and see what they have.

I have my mechanic calling for that part also they did find one but in a salvage yard but he wont let it go because the door is a good door.

If I have to get the part from Mercedes I will get my mechanic to pick it up for me they give me their discount.

thank you all for you imput and help someday it will work again.
