bad cable....

i am having issues with blower behind glovebox in 1987 420sel. so i removed the blower and tested the cabling....got 13vdc coming into the cable connector that is mounted behind the glovebox.

when i tried to trace the 13 volts to the fan connections, nothing there. then did resistance and completely open....

does anyone know the part # of the cable that runs from behind the glovebox to the blower fan? if so, please help so i can replace.

thank you

find your model chassis...

The RU site will have the cable and part number:

Or subscribe to the free EPC from North American Mercedes:

Have you checked the 30-amp strip fuse that's in the little coffin shaped plastic holder? If they crack, you can get voltage but not enough current to run the fan. On my '87 560SEL, it's on the secondary firewall just in front of the brake reservoir.

Yes, be sure of what you think you are seeing. If it is really a bad cable, then jumpering around that cable should fix the problem. That would be a good test if possible. If it is truly a bad cable then it is likely a bad crimp at one end. This would be pretty unusual for Mercedes in my experience.
