good luck!

I did change the oil pan gasket. I also did the fan bearing bracket when I did the head about 20k before this rebuild..

Exclamation *** OOO! OOO! OW! OW! OW!! HOT! HOT! HOT! ***

The only thing I would add is that when you're playing around combustible fluids and following disassembly/re-assembly of fuel rails and such, I'd have a fire extinguisher within arms' reach during the "re-start" process...AAMOF, just before you re-connect the battery, I think the one word that should should be just in the back of, and on, your mind at all times ('til you prove otherwise) is " F I R E ! ! "

Until EVERYTHING is up to pressure, that extinguisher should be an integral part of your body...and even when you take your vehicle out for a quick spin around the block.

For me, I just don't feel comfortable after anything I work on (Specifically, if it has to do with anything electrical or is fuel-intensive) 'til I've reach the end of the "30 Days Of Infant Mortality" period. I don't care if it's a new part out of a box or something from a P&P...if it's been manufactured by man, it can fail for any number of reasons...the first one being, it was thought up by a human.

And if I installed it (being a nubbie in that particular area), I've had enough experience to know (and remember) that SOMETIMES all connections you THOUGHT were TIGHT just didn't quite turn out to be so.

Although already mentioned don't forget to check or change oil pressure sender before getting inside motor.
Question with low oil pressure did motor sound different at idle, tinny or lifter noise?
My 300CE with about 225k started to go to a little less than one bar at hot idle and turned out to be sending unit.Got real lucky and had a good used sender to try.
Good Luck
Rich

The wife has been driving the 95 E300 with 260k miles on it for 3200 miles and there have not been any more issues. The sending unit was causing my low oil pressure indication. The car is running great and I have just went with Mobil 1 truck and diesel oil on the last change. I plan on running it out to 7500 miles between oil changes.

Aside from low pressure, no noises. It was still getting about 1.5 bar while driving.
