Front struts

Hey Y'all! Greetings from Texas!
I will be replacing the struts on my dads' 2000 SL500 next week and wondered if there were any tips or tricks I should watch out for? Looks pretty straight forward to me, but I've never done it before.
He bought the Bilstein comfort or touring struts as they seem to be the best. Also going to replace the bump stops and dust covers. Strut mounts look fine from what I can tell.
Any and all comments would be great!

Use a proper spring compressor, stay focused and do not forget/lose sight of the energy stored in the suspension coil spring. I'd use a safety backup to keep it contained in case
something slips. A HEAVY cable or chain looped through it and secured closed might work well...just figure out what would work best for your situation.

Soak the tie rod adjusting sleeves several times in anticipation of an alignment.

Good luck!!!

You don't need spring compressors to do the struts on that car. Just jack stands and hydraulic floor jack.

I didn't think the springs needed compression. Seems like a regular shock replacement but a strut. Just like my 300E. I think he will be happy, save him a bit of cash too!
I have my eye on a 98 SL500 for me as well, soon as I get rid of the Volvo c70 Cabrio.
