O2 sensor/CEL strangeness

'93 190E 2.6 - Got a CEL a week or so ago and pulled a code 5 via pressing the button beside the LED in the little pin box by the battery(by the way I thought the LED code readers only came on the CA cars? I already kludged up a cool LED reader and everything!). 'O2 sensor signal illogical' - got the replacement, got down under the car and couldn't budge the sensor. It's seized in the collector pipe down there. Buggered it up struggling with it, as the corners on the O2 hex are now rounded off. Used PB, WD, heat, O2 sensor socket, cheater bar, 22mm open end, 7/8" open end. Rubbed my butt on it. I gave up trying to deal with it for a while. Got in the car, no CEL. I check for codes, I get one blink. Time for a beer.
Anybody have a clever idea that could help me get that old sensor out?

No, I don't. The rule seems to be that you have to literally bleed and break some tools first before you'll be allowed to pull that thing off.

I can answer your first question though: California cars did get LED code readers years before anyone else did but by 93 everyone else was starting to get them too.
Regards, Eric

Yeah, rubbing body parts on it is generally the key to a successful repair. :)
