Preventative Measures?
Hi everyone,
I acquired a beautiful 92 300CE a couple of months ago -- my first MB. I've read a couple of stories on here concerning devastating engine problems/failures, and the replies seem to indicate that at least some of them could have been avoided with a bit of preventative maintenance and foresight. The stories scare me, frankly, so my question is this: what mechanical issues (in terms of keeping the engine running smoothly for a long time) should I be thinking of at this point? The car has about 112K miles on it -- is there anything that I should be replacing soon, or at the very least should I expect anything to fail or encounter problems? Thanks, Zach |
The biggest thing is to NEVER overheat the engine and to change the oil on a very regular basis.
Good luck with your new-to-you car. |
Thanks for the advice guys. Incidentally, on the subject of engine temperature, mine almost never seems to get above 80 C. I don't think I've ever seen it get anywhere close to 90, but then again I've only had it during winter in a relatively cold environment (CA bay area).
