Exhaust Gas Temperature
I am guessing that the EGT of a typical gasoline engine with 8:1 compression ratio is around 1500F where the head connects to the exhaust manifold. Am I very far off in this assumption?

Not many Mercedes with only 8:1 compression.

That number is in the ballpark, the exhaust gas temp depends on the compression pressure, timing of the spark, fuel lean-rich mixture etc.
some piston aircraft and OTR diesels have EGT gauges that the driver monitors for best operation. Al
