Has anyone any experience with E430 V8's

My new (to me) E430T , 1998 with 93K miles blew a lot of oily smoke out of the exhaust when I first took it past 4500rpm - I thought this was just a culmulation of miles of motorway, low rev driving. On a trip today, I saw more oil colured smoke coming out of the exhaust (in the rear view mirror) I wasn't revving hard, maybe just accelerating up a hill from 75mph to 90 mph in 4th (5 speed auto) anyway, I couldn't get it to smoke under certain load/rev combinations, it just did it when it felt like it. When I got home I washed the car off and the rear hatch and screen had an oily film over it.
Are there any experts out there who can give me a clue as to which bits are likely to be worn ( I checked the oil and its not overfilled) - rings ? valve guides ? etc
Thanks for the help

I really don't think there is anything specific to your particular engine that will help. As in any other engine diagnosis procedure, start with a compression check and go from there. It might take some exploratory surgery after that.

Is the car using a considerable quantity of oil.

Have a great day,

why does it smoke?

Quite possibly your crankcase ventilation plumbing is all crudded up. When you load it, the blow-by increases and with a plugged up vent system, it backs up from the crankcase into the intake 'directly' instead of through the oil/vapor separators in the rocker covers(normal route of exit)

I suggest adding a pint of Marvel Mystery Oil to the crankcase and run it to help clean out the ring grooves.

I've used Marvel in the past on the recommendation of my Father. Is it safe in a V8 Mercedes?

Thanks for your thoughts, I was thinking along those lines and when I book it into the workshop will send them in that direction. Is it likely that a car so new (1998) albeit with high miles (93K) would get its breathers clogged up ?
Thanks
