91 300E central locking issue

A few weeks ago, both front door locks stopped actuating the central locking system. You could lock/unlock each door with the key but it would only lock/unlock that door. The trunk lock still worked as it should, locking/unlocking the entire car.

Having read the forums concerning ripping each door skin off and looking at each microswitch, fishing wires etc... I decided instead to add a keyless entry system. I accessed the necessary wires in the trunk and wired in the keyless entry system but I was successful in getting the car to lock only. It would not unlock. While fishing around in there, I crossed the wrong two wires and fried the fuse in the aftermarket system. I took everything out of the car and began to check to make sure I hadn't damaged the car in the process.

Now the trunk will not lock/unlock the rest of the car, but the doors work like they should... locking/unlocking the entire car including the trunk and moving the windows and the sunroof.

So, please tell me why this car acts so very strange. Is this an electrical issue? Is this a low current situation? I know a low battery can cause these cars to act very strangely, but this battery is in fine shape.

I mention this only because I'm thinking this car has an electrical issue; This car has is a flicker in the headlights and dash lights. It is just barely perceptible, you can only see it if you have the lights on and roll up to a blank wall. Then you can see the lights flicker and you can take notice of it in the outside temperature readout. It will do this only at idle and it doesn't show if the car has just been started and the engine is running a little faster due to the choke.

Any correlation here?
