Put the 2 front ones directly on the frames, and put the 2 rear ones on the rear suspension to body mounts (frontmost)

When I service my 400E, I always put them under the front lower control arms, and don't know how it can harm for a short period of time, let me know if I am wrong.

Aren't there rubber chassis pads behind jacking points?

Greetings,

On my '84 Benz there are rubber padded areas built into the chassis behind the jacking points on the car for use by garage four point hoists. Why don't you use these points for your jack stands using a piece of wood to cushion the end pieces of your stands as they take on the weight?

Thanks charles, believe it or not, i have been under my car numerous times, many times deliberalty, just kiddinn! and have never seen those rubber pads you speak of. i will look for them as i feel uncomfortable keeping the jackstands to close to the edge where they might slip out. I live in california, EARTHQUAKE town!
thanks

On the Rocker panel, if you have them

Greetings Turbo,

You don't need to climb under the car to see these jack pads if your car is equipt with them. They will be almost right behind the jacking hole in your rocker panels. If you don't feel or see a rubber pad right behind them, then your model doesn't have them. Not saying you couldn't construct a rubber pad on a board to put on your jackstand to serve the same purpose. There are rigid body molding or framing under the car at this area as well that would serve nicely as a support point.
