benz question

hi... i have a little problem my oil pan drain plug is strip, the outer part you put the wrench on is round off bad, it was like that when i bought the car. any ideals what i can do to get that bolt off vise grips didn't work, i need to change the oil bad thanks for the help.

You could try using a file (or dremel) to make a flat spot where you could get some grip. Or make a notch with the same tools and try tapping out the bolt with a screwdriver. Or just drop the entire oil pan.

oil change

You could evacuate oil through the dipstick tube as Mercedes intended. Many posts on this method. Evac systems are available at very reasonable cost. You could then replace the drain plug at your leisure or not at all.

If the pan is metal, have you thought about putting a pair of vice grip pliers on the rounded off drain plug?

You might end up needing a newer, larger drain plug that you can get at your local auto parts store.

Don't forget to change the filter, also.

The suction pump thru the dipstick hole is the answer. They are sold lots of place like Farm & Fleet or do a seacrh on the internet.

I went the other way. Can of Freeze sprayed on bolt and then used medium sized vise grips. Came out within seconds.
