Air bag control unit compatibility
 

I am looking to buy a used airbag control unit and there are three part numbers available for a 400E. I have a 1992 400E and am looking to get one from a 1993 400E.

The numbers listed on EPC net (Startek Info) are:

A 000 820 68 26
A 000 820 69 26 and
A 000 820 72 26

Are the control units interchangable or do I have to get exact same one currently in my car.

The passenger airbag was optional in '92 (I believe '90 through '93 and standard in '94), the single and dual units are not interchangeable. Other than that, I don't know what the third part number would be.

Mine came with the passenger airbag from the factory.

Did you enter your VIN when you got the three numbers from EPC?

Are you certain the next number isn't noted as superceding the prior number?

If I'd entered my VIN and one or more of those numbers didn't appear, I wouldn't try to use one.

I entered my VIN and all three popped up. I'll try and post what came up.

Attached are the EPC results.

On closer scrutiny, looks like the unit in my car is the second one P/N: A000 820 69 26. The first one is for cars with only one air bag and the third one is for cars starting model year 1994.
