Sensor sheared off

Does anyone have a clue as to what type of sensor this may be for my '92 300 CE? Looks like it has been sheared off.

I can't seem to find its connection point. The wire seems to come from around/underneath the thermostat housing/manifold area to (I don't know)?

Any ideas??

I wanna say it almost looks like the end of a crank position sensor...anyone else? Does the car run OK? Any symptoms?

Car runs great, crank position sensor is intact.

Took the car to an indie to find out and he says it could be a TDC sensor.

What do you guys think. If it were this, would the car still be running fine?

Found the other end of the sensor. It is attached to the diagnostic plug of the ECU....but where does the sheared end go to??

How would one replace this, being that is part of the ECU it seems. It does not look like it would disconnect.
