1986 420SEL Not Starting

New info.

Worked on it today and got it started. The cold start valve doesn't seem to be working, at leaset I think so. I removed it, cleaned it and applied 12 volts to the connections. Valve opend up and allowed fuel to pass. After reinstalling it I checked the voltage going to the valve from the connection, only about 3 volts max, and most of the time about 1.5 volts. My guess is that what ever sends voltage to the valve is not supplying enough to open it fully. Anybody know what supplies voltage to the cold start valve? Could it be the fuel relay?

Thanks

Brian

Hi folks,

Been a while, but everything has been working well for the last year. That changed last week.

Car would always start quickly, but started taking a little longer. Went to the store one day, came out and it started right up. Started to back up and it stalled, restarted after a few seconds of turning over. Drove home, with no issues. Next morning would not start at all, and have been searching for the cause for a week. When cranking, good spark at the plugs. Removed the fuel line and good pressure to the injector manifold, but doesn't seem to be getting any fuel to the injector lines. Tested this by removing a line at the manifold and cranking over. No fuel comes out of the top where disconnected. It did start for me once, engine sounded good and smooth. But when I tried to restart after it was cold again, nothing.

One thing I noticed is that when I'm cranking it to start, it seems like it wants to start when I let the key go from cranking to ON. May be my imagination, but is there some type of relay at the starter that controls fuel feed?

I checked the Over Voltage fuse, and all others with an Ohm meter, no issues.

Any help would be appreciated.
