parts number check please someone

I just had a pair of motor mounts sent to me that my mechanic immediately said were the wrong part.

He said the motor mounts for a 93 400SEL had the number 140 240 2217 . He spoke with the parts house and gave them those numbers .

The parts guy in the online house personally inspected the box which was mislabeled before and sent me BOGE parts stamped 124 240 2617 . When I put those numbers in a Benz dealer site for parts its says :

Item Number MSRP Core Price Price 1242402617 $210.00 $0.00 $157.50

for Engine - Mounts - Mount
Mount, 4.2l, 5.0l, front - 8 cylinder, 4.2l and 5.0l d.o.h.c. 1992 - 1995

and when I put my mechanics numbers 140 240 2217 in I get :

Item Number MSRP Core Price Price 1402402217 $192.00 $0.00 $144.00Engine - Engine and trans mounting - Front mount
Front mount Back - 500 1990-98 1990 - 1998

Now I have the parts # 124 240 2617 in my hand . Are these the right motor mounts for my 93 400 SEL .

I would like to have an idea before I drive 30 Miles out tomorrow to the mechanic to replace them.

ADDED Info Pelican parts says the 124 240 2617 is for a 400 E not SEL .

What or who is right ??

You got the wrong ones, 140 240 2217, is the correct part number for your car. According to all of my part cross-checks 124 240 2617 is only for the W124 chassis. Plus the pictures look completely different.

This is really crazy.

If I use Rock Auto for the 400 SEL and the 400 E it shows the same part by Anchor #8834 (the same manufacturer) for the same price $52.79 , with the same photo. It lists only that manufacturer for the 400 E, and Uro for $33.79 plus Anchor for $52.79 for the 400 SEL .

Pelican parts shows the 2 different parts #s that look identical for the same price of $107.00 They show the same photo as the Rock Auto from a different angle .

The part that leads down to the flat washer is angled

Here is Parts Geek search for the 400 SEL engine mount:

http://www.*********.com/catalog/1993/mercedes/400sel/engine_mechanical/engine_mount.html

Also here is parts Geek search for the 400E engine mount :

http://www.*********.com/catalog/1993/mercedes/400sel/engine_mechanical/engine_mount.html

You will notice they both come to the same part number W0133-1609862, price $98.75 etc .

** Pelican said the parts numbers refer to different models (400SEL vs 400E ) but I see they both have the same price $107.00

Maybe these parts are interchangeable tween these 2 cars?

Its possible the Annapolis MD Benz dealer charges 2 different prices for the same parts ?

Their $157.50 part says for a 4.2L , 5.0 L 8 cylinder 1992-1995

then their $144 part says for 500 which is same as 5.0 L 1990-1998 .

So whats the difference ? Is this a way to scam or confuse .

Can someone who has access to EPC or some database please see if they are the same part or not

I stand corrected. The 400E / 400SEL mounts are the same. For some reason, when I first searched for (124 240 2617) I got a picture for the 300E mounts, and I know what those look like. But 124 240 2617 is for the V8 W124's only, my parts site listed that they fit the I-6 cars too. Sorry for aiding in your confusion. You infact, do, have the right mounts.

I meant to say that 124 240 2617 is for 124 V8 and 140 V8, but not the I-6. Therefore 124 240 2617 interchangeable for the 140 chassis. Benz used a LOT of different part numbers and there is a huge interchange range between different chassis. Which can lead to a lot of confusion....

There are easier ways to get your post count up than insulting other members 3 times in a row...like making worthwhile contributions just sayin'....

I am constantly amazed at the sheer number of interchangeable parts between chassis on these cars. Makes it a whole lot easier at the junkyard, thats for sure.
