brake pad change on winter car
Hi All,
the brake pads on my winter driven 560SEC require changing. However, no matter what I try I cannot get the pins out that hold the pads in. I've tried WD/40, Penetrating oil, a punch and a hammer, all to no avail. Any suggestions? I don't want to go the new caliper route as this car is practically worthless, but a great winter ride for Detroit. Bryce |

I'd cut the pins out if all else fails then drill out anything left in the holes! Also maybe try heating them with a torch??

Thanks.. I'll go the cutting route I guess. Not sure I could get a regular hacksaw blade in there, so maybe try with a dremel?

Bryce, apply Liquid Wrench a few times over several days before resorting to cutting the pins. It's odd that a punch and hammer wouldn't drive them out.
If you cut the pins you are still going to have a difficult time driving the head of the pin out unless you have a long punch, or hardened rod that will reach from the front hole to the back hole.
