W126 front suspension noise
I have this unusual noise that my dealer hasn't been able to find the cause of. The noise is a creaking under braking but the unusual part is that I can only get it to make this noise after I have been driving up hill for a few minutes and then come back down. On the down section and for a little while on the flat when I brake I get a creaking sound from the front left. After a while though it goes away and won't reoccur until I go uphill again. Luckily I do mostly flat driving and this doesn't occur to often but it is very annoying. Anyone have any thoughts?

IMO, it could be the case of a worn out bushing at your front end.
I had creaks and croaks like you described - more when going up and down humps. Replaced ALL the bushings (2 days of sitting pretty in the workshop), and the noise has disappeared. Handles like new. |
Hi...I may have had a similar ('87 420SEL)...diagnosis: caster bearings (bushings?)...
