open loop fuel control: "saudi versions"
We are a certification shop for euro spec cars for import to the U.S and have come across several cars that all seem to come from the Saudi Araiba area that are giving us a problem. All of these cars are without O2 sensors but have the wiring harness plug avaliable for hookup. We have talked to all the dealers in the bay area and they are unable to tell us if this is a matter of changing the ECU or if there is more that we must do to get these cars to function in closed loop. Any help in this matter would be greatly appreciated.

The simple way to test for fuel control is this: take the O2 sensor lead and ground it, the mixtire should go rich. Next put one finger on the battery positive and hold the O2 sensor lead with the other hand; the mixture will go lean. If it does such then the controller has the capability - hook up an Oxygen sensor.
