Any Good Resources for NOS parts applications?

I have an accumulation of old parts in my garage from 30 years of working on cars. Most are new old stock in their bags/boxes with part numbers. Some are after-market, parts store and some are OEM, dealer. Various makes, models and manufacturers.
Problem is, I don't remember what year or application most of them are for!
There's gaskets, filters, engine-suspension, steering, brakes, tune-up, etc.
I'd like to clean out & maybe sell them on ebay/local paper.

I know it's a broad question but does anyone have any suggestions or sources of info, websites books or cross-reference manuals to find the applications by part number/makers?

Doing a google on the part numbers with a brand will usually bring the part up.

Thanks, I'll try that and see what I come up with.

In the mean time, does anyone have any cross-referencing type websites?

This will give you access to Mercedes parts manuals. You have to set up an account but it's free.

Thanks for the link! that might help with some Benz parts.
I got a few hits on google but apparently if it isn't a currently stocked item somewhere it's much more unlikely I'll find out what it's for.

Try searching with spaces (124 000 00 00), no spaces (1240000000), and dashes (124-000-00-00). That will make sure you get all possible references.

Good tip, I'll try putting them in quotation marks also.
