remote woes 1997 W210
 

My remote stopped working on my 1997 E300D.....the car starts fine but the remote will not unlock the doors. I have tried replacing the batteries, reprogramming (per the manual), all to no avail.

Is it possible that something has happened to the remote system on the receiver side? ( I have 2 remotes, and both of them have just stopped working)

Also, does anyone have a link to the procedure for disassembly and replacing of the key in the remote FOB?

More than likely it's just the key is bad. Only thing I can think of to check, is if the new batteries are misinstalled or just bad out of the box.
I am trying to think if on a 97 there was some sort of flash indicator for the operation of the remote. Possibly the same end that the blade flips out of there is a small red window, you would operate the remote and be looking for a red flash, which indicates the remote is operating. You could post a few pics of the key if you want.
For replacing the key blade, if you hold the blade in the half-opened position and look at the side, you will see a tiny roll pin, you would need to knock that out with a tiny pin punch. Then the blade will pull out.
