ONLY low speed blower, E320 Wagon

My '94 E320 Wagon now has only low speed on the CC blower, no matter what pushbutton is depressed.
I've read posts that mention checking the wiring of a 3 wire connector behind the power brake module, but that simply is NOT included with my car. I have only vacuum connectors. The only 3 wire connector near the firewall is a green/yellow/brown wire connector by the battery.
Surely there is a way of getting to the blower wiring without exposing the blower??
Are there separate fuses for the low and high speed on the blower?
Thanks for your advice!

Gotta say

Every German car I have ever owned has had absolutely the crappiest venilation system I have encountered...Behr! sucks...This includes BMW, VW, AUDI and now MB...the rest of the car is good..but not the venilation...

Cliffmac, You have obviously never driven an old Austin-Healey with their recirculation heating system in a northeast winter! The car itself was a huge draft and the heater had no possibility of catching up as it only recirculated the cold air in the car.

The German hvac system, except for my high speed blower problem, is fantastic in comparison.

Any solutions out there??

Don't worry about Cliff, he's kind of in his own world when he rants. It's apparent that he doesn't have a properly-functioning system.

When working properly, the 124 HVAC system is excellent, although I would like to have warm air available from the center vent, ... the best solution that they had before dual controls became available though.

I've never heard of the 124 not having the connector above the brake booster, I'll look in my late '95 car to verify. If low fan is all that works, it has to be either the speed regulator or the ACC unit.

Babymog, I've found that the wagons are frequently a bit different than the sedans as to where things were installed. Above and behind the brake booster I have 2 completely vacuum connections that come out/in from the firewall and one that is mounted directly on the BB that is a combination vacuum and electrical with only 2 wires.
I'd appreciate you taking a look at yours and reporting back.

Thinking back on that Healey, 1960 Mdl. 3000, it not only had sliding windows that didn't seal well, it also had about 2 inches of ground clearance so driving a snowy unplowed road was adventure! Especially parking lots!! But on a sunny day with the top down - Wow - I wish I still had her.

I remember the big Healys well, your feet stay nice and warm, ... all summer.

Checked my '95 sedan, it's there, my '91 wagon had it also.

Look rearward of the booster, back behind the vacuum check-valves and switchover valve, it is crammed back there directly behind them.

kwontumspeed 04-29-2010 01:26 PM

My 94 wagon has it. Your's should be there.

blower regulator

macdrone 04-29-2010 04:44 PM

The strip fuse is on the drivers strut mount in a tootsie roll sized case, behind the brakebooster behind the vacuum lines are the 3 wires for the blower motor, which go to the regulator that powers the blower motor itself.

babymog 04-29-2010 05:08 PM

But if it's blown, no blower at any speed.

Ron Johnstone 04-29-2010 07:57 PM

Found the connector! I parked the car rear in so the sun was coming directly into the engine compartment and got my nose down at fender level and it was truly there, well tucked back. Many thanks for the advice, I'll hopefully test it tomorrow.

babymog 04-29-2010 09:57 PM

You do know that the 124 hood goes straight up? I see you had 123s so probably so but, ...

Ron Johnstone 04-29-2010 11:13 PM

Up was not the problem. I had to get down very low and have good light to see the damn thing. Silly to have missed it, but it happens.

mlozzi200478 04-30-2010 12:39 AM

ive got a 124 and im not happy with my blower motor switches iether, the fan blows thru all the vents except for the 2 center face vents, then when on auto it always runs.low is almost not even on,then when you hit the different vent or heater buttons nothing changes, ive heard they have issues with the solder cracking?
