battery vent tube routing

I have a '93 190E 2.6 - battery vent tube is missing, and I've noticed some corrosion under the battery tray and on the tray itself. Battery is an Interstate Megatron with a vent nipple and no tube. I'd like to replace the tube to mitigate the corrosion, and see a hole there underneath the tray. Does anyone know where the tube is suuposed to go, and where does it terminate? Can I just go to Lowe's and get some vinyl tubing or should I go to a battery shop and get some of that black tubing? thanks

I really don't think the 190 (or any MB with an underhood battery) utilizes the vent tube, I think only the cars with a trunk or underseat battery uses a vent tube.

I just replace my battery in the trunk of my E420. Once I got home I notice that it did not have a vent tube. I pull the battery and did not even see a place to install the tube.

Did they sell me the wrong battery? It has 1000 cranking in 80F but no area to place vent tube.

Vent tube even for maintenance free batteries is usually in a bag hanging on the battery. If you didnt get the "kit" with it just go back and ask for one. Normally have them lying around as most people dont know what they are for. I have one on my 400e but dont think it gets used much. Might be a good idea being in the trunk though.

Some of the gel cell or AGM-type batts have no port for the vent. If it is a regular maint-free batt, it should have the port for the elbow for the vent tube. You should also have the orig vent tube and elbow under the seat somewhere. I don't know what you want to do as far as correcting this. Order a new tube and elbow if they took it? Of course it may have been missing before you took it in. Hard thing to prove or disprove. Look under the car in the area under the seat and see if you notice the end of the tube hanging out first and go from there.
