300E trans upshift prob- newbie

Yup newbie here with a 88 300E that suddenly wont shift up outta 2nd.

Let me tell u. I got a nice lookn, nice running 300E at a auction few weeks back, $400 bucks! Hapi to get anothr MB. Had a 300D a few years back but it sacrificed its life to save my gal's when two cars both run a redlight on Xmas day. Car totalled Gal comes out ship shape!

Anyway, two days into getting this 300E trans felt like it went out while driving, but i pull over play with the shifter and manage to creep home in 2nd. Oil only alittle low (found 2 new qts synthetic in trunk) looks clean.

Whats going on now is that i can get in when car is cold an drive and it shifts up - feels good - firm shifts, smooth, but after it warms up (10-15min) thats it, stays in 2nd, wont budge.

I check the vaccume hose on drivers side trans to intake manifold, it looks good. Check linkage uptop on acellerater - I disconected the kickdown under acellerator petal...

Whats going on? Been a few years since i R&R a trans but i'll do it, has i am handy with a wrench but plz someone tell me i dont have to -)

Thanks for any and all ideas!
