Repair of Airmatic Strut
In a previous thread about the squeaking sound at the front suspension, I found out as most of you replied that the lower ball joints were worm out and rusted. When replacing the ball joints I found, upon lifting the car, that both airmatic struts at the front had a leak through a crack at the top cover of the strut.
I understand that there is repair kit for this type of leak, but also said that does not work in vehicle with Active Body Control. My S430-2001 VIN # is WDB2201701A160201. Not sure if this car has ABC. The question is, can I repair the top cover by replacing it with the kit??? I have not found any problem so far with the suspension, other than noticing the air compressor kick -in more frequently. I cannot believe that the tsrut should be replace for this small crack in the cover. Please reply. Thank you. Darrel |

Air-matic is an air suspension system.
ABC body control code (487) is 100% hydraulic. Cars can have only one or the other, not both. Yes, the kits will repair the leaks at the TOP of the air-matic struts. Takes a good shop about 1 hour to install those kits, done on the car.
