Carb or Fuel Injection?

Hello,

I need a new engine for my 1992 2.0l 190e. I can get a hold of a 1987 2.0L 190E carb engine which has low miles.

Is it a hard conversion or straight swap? What are the carbs like for power and fuel economy?

Thanks!

I would doubt it

The 87 190E is fuel injected. That is what the "E" is for in the designation 190E. So the carb part of your question does not apply. Seems to me that the swap should not be too difficult, although you will probably have to switch the electronics and possibly the main wiring harness to do it. If you don't have the engine management computer of the 87 I think you better start looking for one.

Why would you swap the engine with the fuel system? Just swap the engine.

If you can get the other engine for relatively cheap price it maybe the difference between junking your car or keeping it going.

That is a good idea

Do what IVANERROL suggested, switch engines and use same manifold and fuel system. That is probably the most workable solution.
