Air temp Sensor W124
On an '88 300E with M103 engine where the heck is the air temp sensor located? I assumed it was somewhere near the air intake snorkel but I don't see it? Also, how to test?
|
It should be sticking in side of the snorkel. Maybe it is just dangling in the engine bay underneath....
double check.... |
1988 W124 didn't have the air temp sensor in the intake boot. That was added in the 1990 model year changes.

So there isn't one at all?

No air temp sensor on the 1988. However, I have been puzzled over this myself in the past, because the FSM contains a production change note that indicates the sensor was added for 1988 model year. It was not! Your intake tube will just have a plastic button-like plug where the sensor was later installed.

I took delivery of my 1988 300CE new in May of 1988.
No air temp sensor installed and no "button" provision on the intake tube :) |
Right on!
The hole and button plug is when using the later style replacement snorkel on a earlier car... My 86' didn't have a hole either until I replaced the damage snorkel... Michael |
i have an 89 and i havent been able to locate one myself,so maybe you dont have one either.
