Acceptable axial play on W124 front wheel bearings
RE: a 1995 E320, I have done a search and read many threads about the correct front wheel bearing amount of play. The factory manual says to use a dial indicator... yadda, yadda. It then says that the triangular washer behind the clamping nut SHOULD move with a fingertip when it's correctly adjusted. My only concern/reason for this new thread is: is that correct? In my search of this subject a certain person/mechanic with MANY years of experience wrote that that triangular washer behind the nut should NOT be able to be turned with a fingertip. Kind of concerning. Should the washer be able to turn or not.

Yes, when the wheel bearings are set correctly with a dial indicator you can move the washer.
Snug, but movable.
